Students are currently working on our first project of the year called a Facebook Collage. The idea is to piece together different imagery or "symbols"that represent them. Students may use magazine clippings, ribbon, newspaper, colored pencils, markers, glue, and their own drawings and findings to include in their collage.
The collage will develop into an 8 page book with both a front and back cover that they have designed.
This is a great first of the year project because it allows me to see where their design skills are, their work habits, and also gives me an opportunity to get to know them.
They started off a little slow trying to think about their images but now they are really involved (as the due date is near) and we are seeing some great stuff! Pictures of some final pieces will be posted soon!
Thank you parents for coming out to open house last night! It was great to meet you and brag on your kid!

Welcome to LVHS's Art Blog!
Welcome to Mrs. Parker's classroom blog. I am a new teacher here at LVHS but I am not new to Lake View. I am a graduate of LV and I am very excited to start my teaching career here with the best kids in the state! I will use this space to share projects, tips, photos and other information that pertain to Art 1 and Drawing. Let's make it a great year!
A little about me...
I grew up here in San Angelo, TX where (like I mentioned above) I went to Lincoln Jr. High and graduated from Lake View High School. I received my bachelor's degree from Angelo State University with a major in Art Education and a minor in English.
My husband and I both graduated from LV and we bleed blue! He is currently a coach and geography teacher at Lake View as well.
Things I am interested in...
Well art - duh! I currently have my own side business using my specialty in graphic design. I have a ton of knowledge regarding how to incorporate technology in your art - so get ready!
I am also very passionate about volleyball. I have been playing since the 5th grade and still haven't stopped! I will be at the volleyball games watching, cheering, and probably yelling for our girls! Go Maidens!
I have a passion for the arts and I am very excited to teach at my old stomping ground! I know that we have some talented kids and I want to be able to showcase their talent and heart the best way I can.
Throughout the year I will incorporate new and traditional techniques for Art 1 and Art Drawing. This blog is an extension of the learning experience - take advantage of it!
I will try to keep this blog up the best that I can, so please bear with me.
Thanks for stopping by!
